Academic Board

What does the Academic Board do?

The Academic Board is responsible for all academic affairs in the GBFE network. These include the development of new courses, quality control of existing courses, acceptance criteria for students and contact with the people in charge of the respective disciplines at Unisa.

Members of the Academic Board

The Academic Board ideally represents through its members all disciplines offered by GBFE and its member institutes. Additionally we intentionally include members who do not represent a particular GBFE institute. The GBFE-representatives in the so-called Monitoring Committee (a committee instituted by the cooperative agreement with Unisa) are ex officio members of the Academic Board. The dean of GBFE chairs the Academic Board and is also on the Monitoring Committee.

How does the Academic Board function?

The Academic Board holds meetings at least twice annually, one of those being the meeting with the GBFE executive committee during the GBFE executive retreat. More meetings take place as need arises. Questions that can be easily resolved are sorted out by e-mail. The GBFE dean calls the Academic Board together.
